i was looking at a cfg file and went to the "open with"
option. i selected notepad, and now it won't go back to
the way it was originally and all the .cfg files have a
notepad icon. can i go back to the way it was with the
standard .cfg icon?

I don't think there's an easy way to revert to a default for "open with". I
think you would need to do open with again, select the program you want
..cfg's to open with and tick the "always use the selected program to open
this type of file".

There should be no association for CFG unless you install a program that
takes it up. So go to Control Panel, Folder Options - Files Types, look
for CFG, highlight and Delete

thanks alex - you are awesome!

i have been told i worry about things that don't matter -
but i feel so much better now!
