Centered Heading 1 style

Hello,
I'd like to add another Heading 1 style, same as the Heading 1, except that
it's centered. I'd like it to always be available, not having to reproduce
it with each document. How would that be done?

Create a new style and, in the New Style dialog, check the box for "Add to
template."

I tried what you suggested, but when I opened up another document, the new
style disappeared. What am I missing?

Was this a newly created document? New styles aren't propagated to existing
documents?

Thanks, Suzanne. So it doesn't work with existing documents, only with new
documents. Now I understand how it works. Thanks for the clarification.

If you go to Tools | Templates and Add-ins and check (only temporarily!) the
box for "Automatically update document styles," you could get the new style
in an existing document, or you can copy the style to the document using the
Organizer.
