Cell security

Hi,

I have produced a template to be used to input invoices. I
have columns that perform calculations on data that is
entered. Is it possible to make a single cell or column of
cells secure from accidental deletion, ie the user can't
mistakenly delete the formula and hence mess the templates
calculations.

Thanks in advance
Ian

XL cells are locked by default, but the locking doesn't take effect
until the worksheet is protected.

Select the cells you want the user to be able to modify. Choose
Format/Cells/Protection and uncheck the Locked checkbox. Click OK.
Then choose Tools/Protection/Protect Sheet... enter a password if
desired. Now your users will be unable to accidently modify the
cells that are still locked.

Note: This protection is trivially easy to bypass even with a
password (search the archives for macros and links to add-ins that
will unprotect the sheet in seconds), so don't rely on it for real
security. It's designed for exactly what you want - to prevent
accidental damage.
