cell background

In the cell properties dialog boX - in the background
Area - I can change the color but the use background
check box is never available as well as the following
fields.

The same is true of the Table Properties box

I can use a background picture in on the page properties
box for the whole page only.
How can I access the cell and table picture backgrounds

Go to Tools, Page Options, Compatibility and check all the boxes and set the
drop down menus to "custom"

Keep in mind that NS browsers do not support table background images, only
cell background images.
