cdroms vanished

my dvdrom and cdrom icons have vanished from my
computer,i have updated the drivers but the system wont
detect them,i have also used the detect new hardware
wizard but still no cd drives

Mark,
Did you recently install "SPYBOT" and possibly deleted the registry entry
pointing to the Desktop shortcut?

You could try deleting the driver and re-booting your system, letting the
Installer (pnp) find and install the cd-rom driver for you.

Nothing gained, nothing ventured!
