CD writer would burn data cds but not audio cds

Dear All,
My business has a cd burning service. One of our cd writers would burn data
cds and mp3's but writing of audio cds would miss the last few songs. Is it
a hardware problem? I am using Sony cd-writer under Windows Xp.

Copying of most audio as a "for profit service" is not
allowed as a copyright violation.

Please verify your services for any suggestions.

The business is in Africa, people who come to copy cd's are private users
and it is for their own use, let me tell you that in most African countries
the computer is a luxury that most people cannot afford, not speaking about
cd burner. For instance I help a lot of university students who download
courses or articles from the internet but do not have a PC at home to read
them, the internet connection being too expensive. I don't think I am
violating any law by helping people and asking for a small fees in return
since the cd burner wasn't free of charge.

What burning software are you using?

You may want to check for updates on Nero, some music CDs
may be larger than the CD-R blanks you are using, you might
need to adjust the number of tracks selected to burn or use
some greater compression factor.

You can search Google for Nero newsgroup and find some
particular help on your issue which is not really an XP
problem.

I don't think you are breaking your local laws in Africa and
as long as the users are copying their own personally owned
CDs, it would be legal in the USA.

Using the inbuilt burning you make Audio CDs in Windows Media Player by
making a playlist and then burning that. In the process mp3 files get
expanded to the audio form - a lot bigger - so you have to ensure that
the play time of the playlist is within the 74 or 80 minute capacity of
the CD

A greater compression factor? It doesn't matter what compression you
use to RIP the original CD Audio in to MP3 - when it goes back to CD
Audio it takes up the same amount of space on the CD regardless of
what compression the MP3 was using.
