CD to HDD

I'm using a geographical routing prog that only installs some basic
software to the HDD and uses the data on the CD for plotting a route.

I want to use this prog also on my laptop but do not want to take this CD
with me. I tried to copy the CD to the HDD and give the folder the same
title as the CD. In the respective ini-file I changed the CD-path to the
HDD-folder.

The prog responds that the station is not a CD-station.

Is there a way to "fool" the prog and make it believe that the HDD-folder
actually is a CD-station?

Good suggestion!

But, as I am a money-pincher I searched for and found a free
equivalent. Thanks for setting me in the right direction.

Cool .. glad to have helped, thanks for the feedback

I want to raise a caution on this. Several years ago I installed a
vitrual CD program, and it might have been the one pointed to above. It
worked just fine, but had a keystroke copier in it. When I tried to
remove it, it came back to life over and over again. Eventually, I
contacted the distributor (Digital River???) and they got a response
from the developer in Russia. The developer provided very complete into
on removing his handiwork.

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
You're on your own. I have no idea what "Daemon Tools" is or how it
relates to Virtual CD or the problems I had. Good luck.

Use of active scanning with updated definitions may prevent you from
installing malware. Microsoft AntiSpyware beta offers real time protection
and is free. Here's some other free stuffs all on this page but the page is
really meant for people who are removing malware though the tools there will
work just fine at preventing you from installing the silly stuff in the
first place:

Malware Cleaning :

A decent download site would be snapfiles.com where they tend to have
scanned for malware prior to allowing it onto their site. nonags.com is also
good once you get past their silly interface though it may have changed in
the years since I've moved on from them.
