CD stops burning

My CD has stopped burning, I have been using the XP Burn software. My error
message said the CD was slower than the disc I was using. I had burned on
same time of disc earlier. Now message acts like it burns and then disc is
blank. 1) I tried changing the secondary IDE channel 0 to PIO, 2) Started
automatic IMAP for Media Player. With these I get the message that error has
occurred in writing to disc and may have damaged the disc. I have contacted
Sony, they want me to back up everything...

Any suggestions?
