Will XP's onboard CD facilities read and be able to use a disk that has been
packet written?

That is to say, can you transfer information from a packet written CD-RW to
an XP machine without the program that was used to write it. I feel sure you
can't write to one.

You need the third party application to do that. i.e. DirectCD in Roxio
software.
