CD-RW problems

I can usually write to my CD-RW, but I cannot delete any files because it says, "Files on this CD are read only. Don't understand this. Also, some files won't copy to the CD with a message like "Word cannot save or create this file. Make sure that the disk is not full, etc." Lots of room on the disk. Appreciate any help or suggestions.

What CD writing software are you using?? XP native software CAN NOT do
CD-RW in read/write/erase mode.

If your CD-R/W isn't formatted with packet writing software like
Drag-to-Disk (formerly Direct CD), InCD or DLA then you can't delete
individual files from it. XP's built in recording software is not packet
writing software hence you can't delete individual files all you can do is a
full erase on a CD-R/W. XP essentially treats both CD-R and CD-R/W disks the
same when it comes to recording. If you want to save directly to CD you
will once again either need packet writing software or use a work around
like one here http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/saving_files_to_cd.htm

If you are using the inbuilt burning it is not really a CD-RW method.
If does not write files individually, but stashes them up to burn in a
batch as an 'ISO sesion' These cannot be updated or individually
deleted, so the files are inherently read-only, and marked as such.
