cd-rw not working correctly

Chris

I have a plextor 12/10/32a cd-rw and got some tdk cd-rw's today. I'm
trying to write data to it but its real slow and cpu keeps going to
100% usage when I try to access the cd-rw disk. I tried erasing the
disk then rewriting data to it but the old data shows up again after
attempting to write. when writing to cd-r's the disks work fine so
its just the cd-rw that xp is having trouble with.

Should I be using XP software built in or should I use a 3rd party s/w
to save my data with? xp has sp1 installed

Thanks,
Chris

I could be wrong here but I don't think that the XP Default writting program
can erase cd-rw's,I believe it's only for writting to cd's.
try nero it's the only burning software you'll need.

There are firmware updates to your CD-RW on the Plextor web site, might be the solution.

I tried downloading the firmware but when I ran the installation file
it said I didn't have a PX-W1210A installed. I checked the hardware
tab in WinXP and it says I have a Plextor CD-R PX-W1210A so am not
sure why its not working. Also tried installing it under Win98 but no
luck.

CD-R media seems to work fine so am wondering if CD-RW are treated
differently by the operating system or maybe I just need higher
quality cd-rw disks.
