Sounds like you have a hardware problem. Your description is typical; on
a cold boot a hardware component doesn't work and then after it has
warmed up a bit, it does. This will go on for a while and then one day
will fail completely. I'm not sure what you mean by "cd rw cannot find
disk" but I'm assuming you mean that your cd-rw drive isn't functioning
until the second boot. Either the controller on the drive is bad or the
connector on the motherboard is bad. To test, 1) first change the
cable; 2) then swap out the cd-rw drive with a known-working one. If
that solves the issue, replace the cd-rw drive. If that doesn't solve
the issue, you can run a motherboard test. If doing hardware diagnosis
isn't your cuppa, take the machine to a good local repair shop (not a
BestBuy or CompUSA type of store) and have them check it out for you.
