CD=Rs unreadable

If i try and read CD-rs in my cd-rw, windows xp says its a
blank disk, even if i know there is things on it.

If i try it in the dvd drive, it comes up with "please
insert.." and its annoying!

You may have to finalize(close) those sessions using the same software you
used to write them. Then you should be able to read them.
