CD ROM Problem

I'm using Windows 98SE. I have a Sony CDU511-F CD-ROM. As of late, when
I insert a CD, the green light will come on, the CD will jerkerly move
about two or three short times, then the CD will stop without doing
anything and the green light will go out.

What's the problem?
 
The drive has gone to hardware heaven? If not, you may wish to ask in
the Win98 groups, as this group sorts out WindowsXP related issue.
 
Who gave you link/suggestion to come here ?

See the address in address bar (Web-Based) or the heading in your Newsreader, it
clearly says windowsxp.general
