CD ROM prob

Hi,

Strange problem I have...

The original CD ROM drive that came with my computer doesn't work anymore.
So, I took the one from my old system and put it in. It works just fine but
now the system won't detect my CD burner!!! I went into the BIOS and it
isn't there. When I plug in the old one (the one that doesn't work) then
the cd burner is recognized again.

Doctor, what should I do???

Thanks in advance for the help!

Sounds like they both may either be set to slave or master. Check the
jumpers on back of the cdrom drives and make sure one is slave and one is
master.

Check the jumper setting on your original drive. The new drive should
be set to the same setting. There are three choices-SLAVE, MASTER, and
Cable Select. Most brand name PC's now use the Cable Select setting.
