CD-ROM drove does not work.

When I go to my compter Icon on desk top, clike on CD-rom
drive icon, it says to insert a CD - I have put it in?
What can i do about this. Thank you (this is my first
computer)

There are so many things that this could be. It might be faster and easier
to have a computer-literate friend or family member over to have a look, or
to take it back to the store where you bought it, if you bought it locally,
and ask them to check it out. The compact disc itself could have issues,
from needing cleaning to being damaged, so try other CDs. You could be
putting it in the drive upside down. The drive could be bad, or
misconfigured, and misconfiguration could be a software or hardware problem.
If you right-click the CD icon, what choices do you get?
