CD Rom driver

Hi every one,
I tried to help a friend to replace the CD R/RW player on her pc. It is a
combi all in one player "Actima 4x4x24". Her OS is Windows XP SP2.
When I restarted the computer, a warning sign "Windows can not load CD Rom
driver in memory" popped up. I later checked in "My Computer" and could not
locate the CD Rom drive.
Can any one please help me resplve this problem?

Are the jumper pins on the drive set right (master/slave).If so,try
moving to another IDE connection.
