This problem began with the installation of Easy CD & DVD from Roxio. It's
been a nightmare (including a fixed BSOD event). I uninstalled it, deleted
all file references to it, and am back up and running fine. My Dell Dimension
9200 has a Phillips DVD-ROM (DROM6316). XP recognizes the drive. But when I
insert a CD, it doesn't detect the disk. (Please insert, etc.). I have
downloaded the current driver for the device from Dell, installed it. But in
troubleshooting, the drivers listed for the drive are *\cdrom.sys,
*\imapi.sys, *\redbook.sys, and *\storprop.dll. Here's my dumb question: Is
the specific Dell device driver supposed to be listed? If it is, why isn't
it? Why is XP overlooking it? Or is it being overruled by some other driver?
Has anybody encountered/fixed this problem before?
Thanks so much for any help you can provide...
