cd-rom and floppy not working

<computer does not recognize when a cd or floppy is in

<can't save to disk

<can't load software

<niether work at all

<can anyone help me

I'd recommend to check the cables:
Power off your computer
Disconnect it from the power outlet.
Open the case and see whether the cables (both power and data) are properly
attached to the drives.

If that does not help, please post to the group clarification on your
problem: did it work before, when did it stop working, what could cause the
failure?
