Easy! By carrying it around in a laptop bag and either getting the bag hit,
drop it, or break it by trying to squeeze more into the bag. I have broken
several CD's that way. They are basically very fragile even though they are
made of polycarbonate.

Help I need. Wise guys I don't.

I pulled the CD out of my drive and looked at it to find
it has a crack on the data side stemming from the hole. I
think I have only used this CD twice and I have no idea
how it happened. It's possible it could have been
defective (I ordered it through the mail direct from MS),
maybe I did somehow by putting it on or taking it off of
the little rubber stem in the installation folder (not
likely), maybe my drive spun it to the point of
extinction (I don't know), but the bottom line is that I
now have a $199 coaster. It doesn't matter how it got
there. It did. I didn't step on it.

If you can't help go find something constructive to do
with yourself.

I really appreciate your help, and I have viewed this
article. But at the bottom which is what I believe
applies to me it sends me back to the support services
web site. I already have used my 2 free incidents and it
will not let me post another. The only other option
appears to be a $35 per incident phone number. Am I
missing something here? Thanks.

Hi

If you're allowed 2 free incidents and you have used those, then a 'phone
call will be charged at Microsoft's rates.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks.
