CD-R not readable in some drives

I have written several .pdf files to a CD-R disk using XP Home edition
Windows Explorer. The CD was formatted under XP and the 'Make Compatible'
option used.

The CD is fully readable on another PC with XP Professional and two separate
Windows 98 laptops. However a friend (12,000 miles away) finds that he can't
see any files on the CD using his PC which runs under windows XP.

I would really appreciate some assistence. Can anyone suggest what the
problem may be, and if necessary, what other writing software should be used
to get a reliable result.

Thanks,

Patrick

The CD drive he has might not be compatible with the discs you use, so find
out what make of discs his drive can read successfully and then use them.

I find that Maxell and Verbatim discs are the most compatible with the most
drives.
