CD from MS will not install

This is NOT a download. I paid for the CD, since I got the error repeatedly
from downloads.
the DVD (32, not 64) will NOT install. It will install (but I don't want it
to) from SafeMade, where it says, you cannot upgrade from safemode. I want
to upgrade.

Let's start with the basics. From what are you attempting to upgrade???
AFAIK, only upgrades from RC1 and XP are supported.
