I don't know how but I lost my cd\dvd. I can not even open it. The yellow
light is on.
In contoll panel I can not find anything about my cd\dvd drive and I can not
reinstall the driver.
Does the drive show during the computer's POST (Power On Self Test)? At
this point we don't know if you are using a tower system or a notebook.
With a tower system you could make sure the power and data cables are
still properly connected. The power for the LED and the power for the
eject mechanism come from a different pins on the power connector, so
there is a slight chance one pin isn't making contact.
Check the Master/Slave/Cable Select jumper to make sure it's in the
right place too.
These things sometimes have unrecoverable hardware failures requireing a
replacement drive. If the jumper and cables are in place and the POST
doesn't see the drive you are probably going to need a new drive. If a
disk is trapped inside there is ussually a place you can poke with a
straightened out paper clip. Look for a hole in the face plate or guide
ridges on the inside of the door that covers the drawer on some drives.
