CD drive shortcut not workin

Tony

I made desktop shortcuts for my CD and DVD drive but the
right click menu does not work. For example, if I right
click on DVD shortcut and the select EJECT, a message box
appears trying to locate the drive and then another message
appears saying the nearest match based on size, date, and
type is some file on the c: drive; a file that has nothing
to do with CD/DVD drive.

I then checked the ASPI drivers with ASPIcheck from Adaptec
and found none was installed. I loaded the latest ASPI
drivers from Adaptec site and now if I right click on the
shortcut and select EJECT (with no disk in it), the
following appears: "Please insert disk into drive X:\". Or
if I choose CLOSE TRAY, the same message appears.

I also have a virtual drive. The right click menu has an
option to mount to a certain image. If I chhose this
option, instead of opening a window where I pick the image
file, I get: "The item Z:\ that this shortcut refers to has
been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work
properly. Nearest match based on size, date, and type:
C:\Program Files\Common Files|Adobe|Web|adobeweblog. Do you
wan to fix this shortcut to this point or do you just want
to delete it? "

Very fustrating problem. Will appreciate any help you can
offer.

Thanks

I recall reading somewhere that this or a similar problem was "caused" by
Roxio. Perhaps others can shed more light. You may want to see if there's a
Roxio NG or forum.
