CD Drive Draw Keeps Opening By Itself

Hi - i`m using a Windows XP Home Edition, AMD Athlon - 512Mb - 60Gb Harddrive - I am having problems with The CDRW - ( Drive F ) . . . The CD Drawer keeps opening by itself, when i insert A Disk into The Drive there is A Whiring Noise then after a few seconds The Drive Drawer opens by itself. I have tried norton anti - virus, spybot & adware 6 to see if something is hiding on the computer & causing problems - no problem detected.
I have tried Blank Disks/ Music CD`s / JPEG Photo CD`s the drive rejects them all. sometimes the drive works normally with no problems. Now the drive door keeps opening when there is no disk in the drawer at all.
Drive F`s property / troubleshooting Box says the drive functions normally.
I also have A DVD - RW ( Drive E ) & A DVD Player ( Drive D ) these drives have no problems. I find it is anoying when you want to burn something but can`t get the draw to stay shut / work properly.
Is there anybody out there who may have any idea - THANK YOU.

Hi andrew, I had a similar problem a few years ago when i
first started working on computers. Only my problem arose
when I disconnected and reconnected the power lead from
the CD-Rom drive while the computer was still connected to
the wall and powered on. This caused an anomaly in the CD-
Rom, causing it to stay open, or open by itself. Check
your power supply to make sure it is strong enought to run
your gear, make sure you aren't running too much drain on
each rail, try a firmware upgrade for your CD-RW and at a
last resort send the CD-RW back to supplier for warranty
replacement. email me back
