cd drawer keeps ejecting media.

I recently upgraded a Windows NT server to Windows 2000.
Now anytime I insert a CD into the drive, the computer
ejects it after trying to read it. If I shut the machine
down with the drawer open, insert a CD and shut the drawer
manually, it will boot up and read the CD. But if I then
try to switch CDs or even put the same one back in the
machine, the drive tries to read it, but then ejects it.
Any ideas?

I've heard of a virus that does this, can't remember which
one though...

There might also be some mixed-up services left over from
NT.
I've seen all kinds of CD services from NT get stranded
while W2K services have gone on. Both services are
incomatible but still running at the same time. They have
to be hacked out of the registry.
Another reason upgrades often produce lousy results.
