CD burning

I have 2 CD-RW drives on my PC and use the built-in Windows XP software to
write to CDs. When I enable CD buning on one of the drives, CD burning on
the other is automatically disabled. It seems only one drive at a time can
beused for burning, the second one being reduced to a CD reader. Is there a
way around this?

Not that I have found. Normal.

G'Day Luc,

I wish I knew the answer - however your question provokes a
huge revelation of ignorance on my part.

I also have two burners, and they BOTH work with desktop
burning.

I have never ENABLED recording on either!!

I simply drag to whichever is my "current" target, and Xp seems
to do the rest - have you tried just DOING it??

Why would you want to use XP to copy disks, try Roxio or Nero, these
programs will enable you to copy disks on the fly

Pat,
Your reply doesn't seem to answer the post.
You say they both work, but can you use one and then use the second at the
same time?

LucB,
CD burning is a high resource usage operation, so I can see why only one
burner can be used at a time.
It is possible to burn two disks at once, but not with the XP software, both
drives must be the same, and you must burn the same data to both disks.

No - that is the way it is. When you come to write the files it looks
for what drive is turned on for that and uses it. There is no support
for writing to drives in parallel - except using third party software

If you are using Nero or Roxio, be wary about loading Windows Media. When I
installed Win Media, it disabled Nero.
