Sorry Jock, I don't think I made myself clear. It's because windows
thinks there are files _waiting_ to be burned to the G drive. This can
happen if you drag a file into the G drive. It will then sit there
until you either remove it again, or burn it. The files to be burned
are cached on the C drive (in this instance) which is why you see the C
drive even when you think you are browsing G.
The reason I am certain that this is the case is because of this line:-
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\CD Burning\Folder1
in your initial post. The "CD Burning" in the path name indicates that
there are files in that drive that are waiting to be burned to the CD.
That is why the UP button is not working the way you expect it to.
If you take the CD out of the G drive, then look in the G drive, you
should see files waiting to be written. Now, if you remove those, then
normal service should be resumed. Please let us know if this is not the
case, but I'm pretty certain that will fix it, as the Up button works
just fine for me, and when files are waiting to be written, it functions
as you describe.
The functionality is the way it was intended to be.
If this functionality annoys you, you can turn off the drag-and-drop CD
recording. Right-mouse on the G drive in My Computer and choose
Properties then click on Recording and remove the tick from the box
"Enable CD recording on this drive". It doesn't stop your normal cd
burning programs from working, it just disables the drag-and-drop style
of recording.
Warmest Regards,
Brian McSporran.
