CD autorun not working + other

Greetings,

Was wondering if you can help me with a couple of
questions:

1. After installing several new programs on my computer
(XP Home, all updates complete), autorun for both my DVD
and CD-RW drives stopped working. I searched the MS
Knowledge base and found an article about this problem.
Per those instructions, I checked the registry to see if I
have the correct values for autorun, and I do. So it's not
that. Or should I delete and reenter them anyway, then
save the registry?? Can anyone think of another solution,
short of reinstalling the OS?

2. Is there a way to somehow save all the Windows service
patches and updates I have downloaded and installed since
I got my computer? In case I do have to reinstall the OS,
I'd hate to have to re-download them on my slow dialup
connection.

Thanks,

GB

1. Click Kelly's link below and review the extensive auto run section.

2. HELP & SUPPORT
Keep your computer up-to-date... (right side)
Window Catalog (left side)
Choose the operating system and drill down to the critical or recommended
updates desired
It is similar to commercial shopping sites

They now have a tool that will check and correct all aspects of Autorun
- one convenient place to get it is
Http://www.bigblackglasses.com/staff/downloads/autofix.exe

It will probably be too late now, but the initial downloads go into
Temporary Internet files. If, at the time you get to actual install,
you look in there (Internet Options, click Settings, click View Files)
you can copy the downloaded .exe file out to a safe place, and
subsequently burn to CD
