CD autoplay option

I went to my cd-rom drive properties and went to autoplay
and asked the computer to prompt me with which program
I'd like to run, but everytime I put a cd into my cd-roms
they still don't autoplay or prompt me. Is this a
software problem or some other thing? Thanks.
