These links also lead to older versions.
It's okay though, I'm not pushing.
I assume it will take the "Portablizing" folks a little time to catch up.
I just thought you might have an affiliation with the group that might put
you "in the know".

I've learned at PA.com it is bad form (and they will let you know it) to ask
the programmers "WHEN???". I was just asking if you "happen" to know.

Tim i misunderstood you . So you are already using CCleaner portable and
were looking for an update for the portable version ?

My PC is running XP Home SP2, DSL connection. For a brief time, I had
the 'Automatically check for updates to CCleaner' option selected. Once, a
new version of CCleaner was released, yet 10 days went by and I received no
notification of it. So I turned the updates option off and installed the
new version manually. Anybody had success with CCleaner's automatic update
check?

I have CCleaner configured to run at startup. Is that the same thing?

History Fan, me personally i don't let anything update itself and if you
decide to turn off auto updates you can usually find an announcement of an
update here.

Alan, what I've learned over the last few years here at Defender and
learning from people who know more than i do is the number one rule : keep
your programs updated. The definitions updates that you install to your
computer for your AV , AS, and your WU, MU updates all help in keeping the
computer malware free. Now granted CCleaner is not an anti-malware program so
to speak, but it grows right along with changes from Microsoft and some of
the most used antimalware programs that you might already be using.
When a definition update is written it's because a malware has already been
found, so how i look at it we are always behind. I find CCleaner an excellent
clean - up aid (cookies) Ron

Alan, what I've learned over the last few years here at Defender and
learning from people who know more than i do is the number one rule : keep
your programs updated.

In terms of updating antimalware programs and Windows updates, I don't need
any persuading, Ron. But my observations of problems in these forums suggest
that sometimes the updates can be counterproductive. Lots of people had
problems using a more recent version of Ccleaner to clean Defender, for
example. It often seemed to do more harm than good, by eliminating stuff
unnecessarily.

I'm not being dogmatic about it - I usually scan the new options on an
updated Ccleaner version just in case, and if I saw a new facility that I
thought would be helpful, I'd install the new version. But so far, I just
haven't been tempted. It is, as you say, only a cleaning program, albeit a
very fine one.

CC tries to check for updates.
