CCCexe Preventing Shutdown

After installing 3 critical updates in Vista regarding Malicious Software
Removal Tools the update had me restart. In a black screen I had a notice
that CCCexe. was preventing shutdown, which has never happened before.

Tried to use task manager, but all that happened is it flipped to a blue
screen for an instant, and then went on with the shutdown process.

Although everything seems to be working ok now, was wondering if there's now
something new that's going to need fixing since the updates? Any info would
be appreciated. Thanks.

I assume that the correct name of the file is really CCC.exe and not CCCexe.
If this is the case, CCC.exe belongs to the ATI Catalyst Control Center.
Update your video drivers (ATI). Lots of people have issues with the
Catalyst Control Center and so you may want to uninstall it. You can check
on an ATI forum first if you like.

Thanks a ton. This has never happened before, so I'll check with the ATI
forum. Great info, thanks again.

download the latest 8.6 drivers/software.

do an UNINSTALL of the ATI software and drivers.

reboot and install the latest 8.6 drivers/software.

Thanks for the instructions. When I check all programs, I only see Catalyst
Control Center and Install Manager. I see no ATI. I did find an Update
function in the install manager, which I did. But on the ATI website I
couldn't find anything on new drivers.

Sorry, I'm new to this. I'm sure this is not very advanced for most folks,
but it is for me. So I think until it causes a problem again, I won't worry
about it. Thanks again.
