Categories for a contact in Outlook 2003

My user has his Outlook 2003 categories entered with comma separators but no
spaces after the comma. Example: Job1,Job2,Job3

When he selects to sort his contacts by category, it is treating
Job1,Job2,Job3 as one category rather than 3 categories. He has over 800
contacts like this. If I open a contact and put a space after each comma, the
categories then sort correctly for the contact. Is there a way to make a
global change to his contacts or do I have to change them one by one? Or some
other solution?

When I tried to duplicate this in Outlook 2003, I couldn't. I entered the
categories with no spaces around the commas and OL 2003 simply added them
for me and show the entry under each of the three categories. I wish I knew
the answer, because others have seen this as well.
