Catalyst and Win2k Pro Win2k3 issues

Hello, I trying trying to move off and old unmanaged Linksys 10/100
Switch to a Cisco Catalyst C2924-XL managed switch.

I can PCAnywhere into the Win2k Pro box, the win2k pro box can ping,
but FTP and Web Browser CHOKES.

I suspect the same is happening to a Win2k3 box with VPN.

How can this be rectified?

A 2924 is a layer-2 switch, so it's extremely unlikely that it is
causing the problem. That said, Cisco switches have some well-known
problems (Cisco may call them features). One, they are VERY SLOOOOWWWW
to bring a port into forwarding state unless the port is specifically
configured for portfast. Second, they are absolutely the worst for
auto-negotiation problems. But you can look at the port statistics and
see if you are getting collisions or other errors. If so, force the NIC
on the computer and the switchport to 100/full-duplex. Also, since a
2924 is an older model and likely not a "brand-new, out of the box"
unit, make sure the switch doesn't have a configuration that might be
affecting something (protocol VLAN or something).
