Carriage return produces box character in several software packages which ran fine in 98SE. Compatibility mode settings have no effect. These are programs which cannot be upgraded, but which I use every day: Eudora Light, Parsons Address Book.

Has NO ONE ever seen this problem? These two software packages ran fine on Windows 2000 Pro with NTFS. What is so different about XP-Pro? Why can't the compatibility features handle this problem?

The carriage return not operating means I can't email lists over 2 or three names, because they won't wrap around or scroll beyond window frame or end of page to add another. Same with "Notes" sections of Address Book - can't add anything beyond first line. Notes which previously contained several lines of information are now packed into one line with the little "box characther" and off the end of the screen, unreadable or scrollable

I can't believe no one has ever heard of this...
