I can not figure out how to capture clips from our analog
video recorder (VHSC format). I have a new Sony Vaio
which has analog (the yellow, white, and red plugs) input
in both the front an back of the desktop. PapaJohn's web
site talks about using the "record" option, but I can not
for the life of me find it. Bought the Sony Vaio to make
movies out of my Analog Video tapes but so far haven't
been able to do it. Am hoping I can capture right into
MM2. Thanks very muc.

Also, when I try to capture with the analog video camera
attached to the PC and turned on, MM2 says "a video
capture device was not detected". I can capture with
other software such as GigaPocket, but the clips will not
import into MM2.

Hi there,

The yellow, white and red plugs are the same (if thats the connection type)
whether its digital or analogue. Once sorted I am sure you will be able to
do what you want.

Have you been to this web-site ? http://www.vaio-link.com/ It seems to
have a lot of info on your equipment.

Finally, have you been to www.papajohn.org. It has a large amount of info
in general.

For my analogue source I have a number of options. The one that you will be
interested in is...

1) In MM click on Capture Video
2) Select the device with the name WDM Video Capture (Universal)
3) Select Sound Device = Your Audio Card
4) Select Audio Input Device = Line In
5) Select Video Source = Composite

And the rest is just name the capture file and specify what quality you
want.

I give the program a few seconds without the tape playing back and then
start it up.
