CAPS lock / SHIFT lock difficulty

Can anyone give me instructions on how to control these to keys?
Somewhere along the line I must have pressed some wrong key combinations and
now can't seem to get them back to "normal" operation again. i.e. I am
never sure what mode they are liable to be in when I commence to type.

Any advice you can give would be appreciated!

It's a bit difficult because we don't know what you did, but check in the
Ease of Access Center applet in Control Panel. Perhaps you've set sticky
keys or the like. Since I can't see your computer, you'll just need to
carefully examine all the options to see if anything looks like it is
causing your problem. If you don't find anything, perhaps you have some
sort of specialized hotkey software running. This would have been installed
by your computer mftr. if you have a laptop, or perhaps by you if you
bought a "fancy" keyboard. No one but you - or someone actually looking at
the computer - is going to be able to tell you for sure.
