Capitalization of first word in a sentence

When I create a numbered list (1. First word, etc), the
first letter of each sentence is not automatically
capitalized. I have checked Auto Correct, and this option
is selected. The capitalization works ok if I'm not using
a numbered list. Any suggestions??

Or, you can go back to Word 97, which doesn't have this annoying
feature.

Does anyone know whether this has been corrected in Word 2003?
