Capacity of Audio CDs

I am using WMP 10 to create audio CDs. There appear to be two limitations on
how much music I can get on an 80 minute/700 MB CD. These limitations are
time (80 minutes) and storage capacity (700 megabytes). I'm not sure if both
limitations are always in play or not. In other words, is the CD capacity
reached when you have either 80 minutes of music OR 700 megabytes of files?
Or is there room for more music on a CD as long as there is open storage
capacity (less than 700 MB have been used)? As you know, it is possible to
have the same song take up different amounts of storage (different file sizes
for the same song), depending on how much compression is employed. As a
result, it would be possible to only use part of a CD in terms of storage,
but still hit the 80 minute time limit if the song file sizes were as small
as possible. The "time" of the song does not change, but the song file size
can. On the other hand, fewer songs could be stored on a CD if lossless WMA
files were used. Since the song file sizes are larger, fewer of them would
fit on a 700 MB disc.

Sorry for the long question, but I'm trying to understand exactly what the
limitations are of WPM audio CDs.

If you burn an audio CD then the limit is 80 minutes. If you burn a data
CD, it is 700MB.
