Can't view or change primary display

Hi,

I'm trying to view streaming video for an online class on
my monitor. I have a notebook hooked up to a docking
station.

I know I have to set the monitor as my primary display.
However, the instructions MS has on its site aren't
accurate. They tell me to go to the "settings" tab of
my "display properties" window, and then to... well here,
I'll just paste what they say...

"Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.
On the Settings tab, click Identify to display a large
number on each of your monitors. This shows which monitor
corresponds with each icon.
Click the monitor icons and drag them to positions that
represent how you want to move items from one monitor to
another, and then click OK or Apply to view changes"

Ok, that doesn't correspond to anything that I've got on
my computer. Once I'm in the "settings" tab, there's
nothing I see that says "Identify." There's not ANYTHING
that suggests settings for different monitors. It just
says "Display: (Multiple Monitors on ATI RAGE Mobility-M1
(COMPAQ)". There is also a picture of a monitor and some
resolution settings and buttons that
say "troubleshooting" and "advanced," neither of which
seems to take me anywhere useful.

Any idea how I actually set my monitor as a primary
display?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

The function, if your system supports it, would be under advanced on the
settings tab. Can you provide a link to the instructions you were reading?

Do you have the "Monitor" on and enabled? If so, then the video adapter
and drivers IF they support "multiple monitors" will show a 1 and a 2
monitor.
