Can't view jpg attachments

All of a sudden, I can't open jpg attachments to email in my Outlook 2000. I
have reinstalled Outlook, but with no change. If you can solve this problem,
I'll dance at your wedding.

What happens when you try? Use Windows Explorer's Tools>Folder Options menu
to reestablish the association between JPEG files and whatever application
you want to use to open them.

I have just discovered that I can look at attachment in a roundabout fashion
by opening the email--in which case the attachment icon appears at the
bottom of the email--then right click on the icon, then click on Print, and
the image appears for review in preparation for printing. This will suffice
as an interim procedure, but it doesn't solve my problem. I still want to be
able to open the jpg attachment from the Preview pane.

Brian,
You're a wizard! I followed your instruction and found that the "Opens
With" option for jpg files was blank. I restored the default, and now I can
once again view jpg attachments in Windows viewer from the Preview Pane of
Outlook. Interestingly, I checked the settings on my wife's computer, which
is linked to mine--she also could not view jpg files--and she had the same
condition. I can't imagine how the setting got screwed up on both computers.
It was not simultaneous. She had the problem first, then a couple of weeks
later, it hit me. Anyway, it is solved now. Now, about that wedding . . . .
