Can't view data in cells

When some of my Office 2003 excel files are opened I can only see the data if
I select the cell and view the data in the data entry field at the top of the
worksheet.

How do I resolve this issue? I tried doing a repair several times and that
didn't work. I am trying to avoid uninstalling Office and reinstalling.

Thanks in advanced for your help.

If the data is visible in the formula bar, but not in the cell, then check to
make sure that the font color is not the same as the cell background color.

The font is black and the cells are white. I just noticed that text that is
vertically justified is bunching up. Basically all the letters are together
as one black blob.

Does this mean you can't see the cells in the window below the formulabar?

If yes, then try:
window|arrange|tiled
and then you can resize that window the way you want.

If no, maybe you could be more descriptive.

Yes that is problem. For example I have a calendar and the only thing in the
cells are numbers, which are not visible until I click on the cell and see
the number in the formula bar. This problem just recently occurred. Data I
could see in files before, I cannot see now until I select the cell and look
at the formula bar. I have had others open the files I am having issues with
and there is no problem on their end.

Dave,

Thank you very much for that link. I will have to switch monitors out, but
I unchecked "extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" and opened the
files I was having issues with and they are now working properly.

Thanks again, I appreciate it.

I'm not sure if this'll help, but you may want to review Chip Pearson's site:
