XP home, netscape 7.1 browser
after i re-set-up WMP i was only able to play a video clip once, in the
normal manner of WMP, before the error messages started.
now every time i try to play aclip i get the following:
"The Quicktime plug-in requires the Quicktime System extensio version 5
or later. quicktime is available from http://www.apple.com/quicktime."
if i click ok it starts to download.
several weeks ago i had to download Quicktime for Instant DVD2.0/Instant
DVD+DV. I haven't used any of it, so i deleted QT. Ever since then i
have the problem described. i can't play any video clips.
I would appreciate some direction. any thoughts would be appreciated.
thanks in advance.

You've got Quicktime set to open Windows Media player files. Start
Quicktime and go into its preference and uncheck its support for those
file associations.

thanks for your response. i have deleted Quick Time awhile ago, that's
what i can't undestand. i did a search of my hard drives for any file
containing "Quick time" and the results were zero files. i even
re-downloaded QT and reinstalled it and re deleted it, but i still get
the error massage. any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

Try checking the file association for the WMP files, make sure that QT is
not associated with these. If so reassociate to WMP.
