Can't Use Shared Printer - XP to 2000

I have a two PC home network that I have had a heck of a time setting up
file and print sharing on. The XP machine has a backup drive and two
printers connected to it, and I am trying to share those resources with the
2000 Professional machine. I have never been able to connect the 2000
machine to the XP machine using the XP machine's name, but I finally was
able to map a drive on the 2000 machine to the backup drive on the XP
machine using a static IP address on the XP machine. But now I can't setup
the shared printers.

When I type \\192.168.1.2 in the run line of the 2000 machine, I can see the
shared printers, but I am not able to install or use them on the 2000
machine. When I try to install the printers, I get a "Cound not connect to
printer" error. Any thoughts on how to make this work?

Thanks for your comments Robert but this is still not working. I believe I have done everything that is suggested in the websites you suggested. I have disabled Windows firewall and my Trend Micro firewall on the XP machine. On the 2000 machine I have disabled the Trend Micro firewall but I don't believe it has a Windows firewall. I also tried disabling the firewall on my Linksys rounter and that didn't work. And as I said previously, the printer is shared and I can see the printer when I open the IP address of the XP machine from the 2000 machine, but I can't "install" the printer on the 2000 machine.

Any other ideas you can provide will be appreciated.

OK, now I have even bigger problems. I can't open any of my Network or Printer Control Panel icons. It seems that the rundll32.exe program keeps hanging up. I am sure this is due to something I have done, but not sure what. Please help.

OK, don't ask me what happened but I ran Spybot and Adaware and now my printers work and my rundll32.exe problem is gone. Sorry to bother!
