Can't use router for multiple sessions

I recently upgraded to XP and installed SP2, I am trying
to use a Dlink router for 2 internet session through the
same DSL broadband connection. On my older Win98SE
machine Explorer comes up without any problem, but the XP
system won't make a connecion. I notice the NIC is
allocated to a 'LAN or High-Speed internet' connection
which I didn't create and can't delete. I thought the NIC
should be assigned to the Broadband connection. The above
setup (without the router involved) connects to the Net
as long as the Lan connection is Enabled first and then
the Broadband connection is started.. Any thoughts on
what the router issue might be (D-Link DI-604 model)..

Al,

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each ipconfig listing.

Are you able to share files between the two computers?

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Not sure what I did but my connections are now working,
did some playing around with XP's networking
capabilities. I think it had to with enabling multiple
sessions on a single link. I have SP2 installed as well.

Thanks for reporting back!

Multiple simultaneous connections are the normal way to use an
Internet connection. Even the lowly web browser opens more than
one.
