Can't use Office Update Web Site

Any help will be most apreciated:

I installed Microsoft Office Pro 2003 and everything works fine but I can't
update Office thru the Office Update web site, when I try to I receive the
folowing error:

Line: 869
Char: 1
Error: Automation server can't create object
Code: 0
URL: http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/mainCatalog.aspx

I reinstalled Office but didn't work so I think the problem it's with
Internet Explorer. I also tryed to:
- include the office update web site in the "Trusted sites" list
- delete the Office update detection folder
- delete the office update activeX control
But none of these had effet.

I have Windows XP SP2.

Thanks,
Miguel

Is your Languages... setting an issue? E.g. for that one try putting
en-us at the top of the list? (From IE (English): Alt-T,O,Alt-L,...)

In case it matters you could also try adding EN-US as an alternate
keyboard choice using the Language Bar (Control Panel, Regional
Settings)

There are three Language variables. The script might be looking
at any of them when deciding which parameter to to use during the
download, etc.

Perhaps you already have the ActiveX control needed by that site?
(Check with Tools, Options, Settings, View Objects...)
If it's there you could try removing it and getting a new one
(e.g. in case that one is broken.)

Alternatively, to give a better description to us of where in that
complicated process that error message occurs, you could
set FullScreen mode on (e.g. press F11), make sure that you
can see the Status bar in that mode (e.g. press Alt-V,B)
and set your Security settings for that zone to Prompt as much
as possible. That should slow the process down enough for
you to make notes about what is being loaded and make as much
of the URLs as apparent as possible.

Don't forget to reset the Security settings back to Default Level
after your testing.

Good luck
