Can't update definitions

I just installed defender and it says the definition files haven't been
updated in 193 days. When I click on check for updates it tells me that
there are no new updates. We use a proxy server here, but I saw nowhere in
the settings to configure defender to use a proxy. Also, if it was a proxy
issue I would expect it to say it cannot contact to the update site instead
of saying there are no new updates.

Any ideas?
