Can't Unlock Machine

We have a user that will lock her computer and then is unable to unlock it.
She used Ctl-Alt-Delete to get the login screen, it popped up, but will not
allowed her to type anything in the boxes (user name or password). Any help
would be appreciated.
 
When you say it does not allow you to type anything in the boxes, does this
mean when type no characters appear on screen ? have you tried rebooting ?
does the keyboard work ? turn off power management, maybe hard disk is timing
out...

the user can not type any character or even reboot. The administrator has to
reboot the machine. The keyboard works. Will try turning off power
management and see if that works.
