can't uninstall network printer

Hi,

I'm having a hard time removing a network printer description on XP.

On my laptop, I installed my home printer, which is connected to (and
shared by) my home PC (named bob). I recently changed the machine
name of the PC (now it's joe), and, of course, my laptop couldn't see
'myprinter on bob' anymore, so I installed again, this time using joe.

So now when I go to print, I have two options: myprinter on bob, and
myprinter on joe. If I go into Printers and Faxes and select
myprinter on bob and hit delete, it says "Printer cannot be removed.
Either the printer name was typed incorrectly, or the specified
printer has lost its connection to the server."

Is there a way to uninstall myprinter on bob without renaming my pc
back to bob and then deleting it?

thanks,

nate

I was having the same problem:
" Printer connection cannot be removed. You either entered a printer
name that was incorrect or the specified printer is no longer connected
to the server. Click help for more information "
After a couple hours of going through the MSKB and Google group search,
I came across this site:
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm
This fixes the problem... but be sure to follow the instructions... I
skipped a "net start spooler" command and it didn't work... but after
retrying the procedure it worked perfectly!

printer connection cannot be removed. either the printer name was typed incorrectly,o

hay guys i found a new solution.before that i spend so meny hours to solve this matter.
this is the way.

if i going to delete the printer message says the printer is not in the server.so add a printer as same name.
eg :client pc printer (Error printer) name laserjet 4260 (copy 2) 172.20.1.5

please create a printer in server same above name and your unworking printer going to be work.
THAT MEAN NOW YOUR PRINTER DETECT THE PRINTER IN THE SERVER.AND NOW HE CAN'T TELL PRINTER IN NOT IN THE SERVER. ***(PRINTER IS IN THE SERVER NOW )***

and then delete the printer in your pc....
