When I right click on my computer and go to turn off/on system restore in my
copy of XP pro the option to do is greyed out and says it is disabled by a
group policy. Which group policy is this? I don't know how this would have
been disabled. My account is and Admin account and there is one other user
who is just a member a group I called 'Users'.

Thanks for any help,

Trent

Click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC Go to:

Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, System Restore.
Double click on the Turn off Configuration entry. Set it to Disabled or Not
Configured. Disabled disables the "policy", not the System Restore
Configuration feature. Not Configured is the default setting.

Hi Doug,

I went to that option and it was already set to 'Not Configured'. So I just
don't know where my system is having this disabled. Is there somewhere else
I could look. I think one reason may be is that I had a trojan. I got it
clean off right away, but I wonder if it could have done this?

Thanks,

Trent

Set the policy to Enabled, apply the change, then change it back to Not
Configured, or to Disabled.
